Top 5 Florida Cities That Saw Monster Growth in May 2022

Orlando, Florida saw the most real estate growth of any city in the state in May 2022, according to new data from the Florida Realtors Association. The Orlando metropolitan area saw a total of $2.4 billion in sales, up 21 percent from the same period last year. The average price per square foot also rose significantly, by 11 percent to $205.

Tampa came in second place for real estate growth, with a total of $1.6 billion in sales and an increase of 18 percent from last year. Average prices also rose slightly, by 2 percent to $185 per square foot.

The third-largest city in Florida, Jacksonville, saw a total of $1 billion in real estate sales in May, an increase of 12 percent from the previous year. Average prices fell slightly, by 2 percent to $152 per square foot.

Miami, the fourth-largest city in the state, had a total of $950 million in real estate sales in May, an increase of 9 percent from last year. Prices here remained relatively flat, with an average price per square foot of $219.

Last but not least is Fort Lauderdale, where the total amount of real estate sales reached $850 million in May 2022. This represents a growth of 8 percent from the previous year. Prices in the city rose slightly, by 1 percent to $188 per square foot.
